Why Choose St Charles?

St Charles Borromeo is a small school, and research indicates that small primary schools lead to greater student achievement. (Cobbold, T 2011) Research also tells us that 'belonging to a close-knit community is vitally important in developing a child’s resilience. It is also a protective factor for mental health and bullying issues.’ (Independent School Parent, 2021) Interestingly, there is now also research being done into the use of smaller schools at the secondary level to increase student engagement and academic success.

At St Charles we offer a personalised learning experience for all students, which can lead to a greater sense of community and achievement. Students can interact with teachers on a more personal level, this enables students to feel more confident in their work and builds stronger relationships that can last long after they leave school.

Students have more opportunities to explore different activities and interests. Student Voice is important at St Charles. As an example, during this school year we have implemented the following lunch time activities/clubs: Coding Club, Comic Club, Disco Club, Sustainability Club and visiting our neighbours at BUPA Aged Care. All students are encouraged to pursue their passions, tap into their creativity and find activities that suit their interests.
